Some photo shoot days are just crap. Marjolein and I did the shoot for this pleated black blazer in Delft when it was awful weather. Rain showers all the time and the wind blew so fiercely I thought my earrings would be blown out of my earlobes. Or my hairpiece would be lifted from my head; but no, it stayed put.
We spent quite some time in restaurant Anne & Max, near the train station where we arrived. They are a chain and in this particular branch, the cappuccino was absolutely perfect.
Below: The old train station of Delft.

Marjolein had spotted an area in Delft, right by the station, with newly built houses that have a different (as in good) architecture. So, before you are to see some old buildings, I will show you a lot of modern architecture for a change.
Prepare for many photos in this post. (You said you didn’t mind that…)
Below: Let’s start with these houses. We liked the step gable, referring to the old step gable houses.

Below: At the back of some houses, we found something of a novelty. Well, for me it is. The residents could push the button on the left and we assumed that the car would go down, underground. We failed to check it, but what else could it be? Remember the Netherlands is very small and we have little space for our 18 million inhabitants.

Below: One big wall was completely covered with plants.

Below: Great background for a blonde and also somewhat of a close-up. The earrings are by Baublehaus who stopped creating them. I cherish them as they brighten up black and white clothes near my face. The blazer is by Même Road, bought at kpa.haarlem. Did I need another black blazer? No, definitely not.
You can wear it without the belt as an oversized blazer, but I love it with the belt.

Below: And especially because of the rhinestones at the back of the belt.

Below: These people were closing off the area where they park their car with a garage door which I think is so friendly looking.

Below: We left this part of the new-built and as I looked back, I saw this innovative building. Somebody has a great roof / terrace garden.

Below: A bridge to the other side. Not over a canal but over a playground.

Below: Couldn’t resist a photo on the bridge but it is not a flattering one.

Below: Marjolein told me to go on the swing in the area underneath the bridge. I was afraid it would only be for children and snap under my weight.

Below: “Nonsense”, she said and proved it by showing me how to swing properly. In with the legs and out with the legs.

Below: On the other side were interesting new houses as well. Like this one. They used more than 4,000 (!) individual plants, more than 36 plant species. They cool the house with 2-12 degrees Celsius and attract wild bees, parasitic wasps and bumblebees.
I wonder how you trim the plants.

Below: Close-up of plants growing out of the gable stones.

Below: A few more modern houses in this area.

Below: Marjolein on the steps of one of the houses, looking jolly good.

Below: She wore her great raincoat, the one with the big print on the back. You saw it before in the post about my burgundy blouse with the silver skirt.

Below: Around the area with the newly built houses, was a sort of a moat.

We decided to walk to the old part of Delft which you have seen many times before.
Below: I am including this photo because it made me laugh; hope you smile as well.

Below: To please the lovers of old buildings, here are four oldies.

Below: This one looks like Paris.

Below: Across the canal to the house above, was an old bridge.

Below: Another shot of the back.

Below: Yep, we are definitely in the old part of Delft.

The sun disappeared again, as so oft before that day.
Below: We decided to head back to the station and saw this big building. It is Huis van Delft (House of Delft) and it is not quite finished yet. The Wikipedia page, giving insight in the development of this building, is in Dutch only.

Below: As we passed a big window at the side of the building, our eyes got caught by this tile art. The art is by Job Smeets.

Below: We sneaked inside the entrance but couldn’t get into this area as they were finishing building it. This photo is taken through the glass door. Magnificent. We will definitely go back there when it is finished.

Below: The side of the building.
Apparently, we missed a few windows, because I discovered this image on the internet.

What happened in my life this week
I met Helga (below) for coffee on a sunny day. I am so blessed with so many wonderful friends.

Below: Thinking it wouldn’t be that hot, I wore my black jeans skirt. The white cowboy boots look great with this skirt. Only when I took them off in the evening, I saw that the skirt rubbed off on my boots. I hope I can get them white again.
I had taken my bike and that was not easy with a long pencil skirt. I am afraid there was more leg visible than I anticipated.

In the afternoon Ron and I had drinks with neighbours Els and Herman across the road and Ron said afterwards he thought this skirt was too revealing. Oops.
The next day we went to the beach and I applied myself to my photo assignment again.
Below: Another one for the photo assignment Series is called Beach.

Because you said it didn’t matter how many photos I put in a post, I will show you the photos of the collage individually.
Below: I am pretty chuffed with this one. I took it with the option Panorama on my iPhone and I finally succeeded to take a good photo with it. The mast seems to cut a hole in the clouds.

Below: After about 12 photos, I nailed it. Hurray for digital.

Below: Just a still to help create the beach mood.

Below: Husband Ron dipping his toe in the water (just for the photo; he always walks in the sea).

Below: Mood photo. Nothing says beach more than shells do.

Below: The rescue-squad drove past.

Froukje and Petro came for a simple meal one evening. Ron prepared the steaks and salad in the kitchen while I bike-raced to town and back to get the best French fries there are.
On a Monday Marcella was supposed to come round to our house when Ron asked me whether I wanted to join him and dog Watson to the beach again. I said yes, as I had totally forgotten about Marcella. When she called me as we were walking to the sea, I felt so ashamed. It doesn’t happen often that I forget an appointment or date but now that I am retired, I don’t consult my agenda every day. We saw each other the next day. Forgot to take a photo.
Managed to create another Photo Assignment in Series. This one is called Sea. I will only show you the collage as the photos are worthless. I learned that you cannot take far-away photos with an iPhone and expect them to be sharp. And I learned that having the lenses at the bottom while you put your phone on the ground, creates a good photo (the one top left). That’s what this assignment is all about, right? Learning.

Below: And another one, called Sparrows. Cute, don’t you think?

Friday we went to the theatre (cabaret) and I wore this (below). (Link to original post.)
